Production OperatorSecond Nature Brands is on a mission to grow from $500M to $1B over the next 4 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth.Packaging / Production Operators are responsible for operating production lines producing premium glazed nut mixes and other snack food items in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring quality standards and schedule adherence are maintained.Production team members work in a variety of areas such as packaging, roasting, and sanitation, while standing/walking for long periods of time (up to 12 hours). This position also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, complete documentation completely and accurately, collect regular samples to meet quality checks, perform basic adjustments and repairs to machines, and take initiative to ensure work is done correctly and safely.Key Responsibilities May Include:Perform all tasks in a safe manner, adhering to Company work rulesFollow Company's Good Manufacturing Processes at all timesBuild packing boxes and/or trays for bulk productPlace product labels on pouches and shipping boxes as neededEnsure pouches are correctly filled and sealedPack sealed pouches into prepped shipping boxesSeal loaded boxes and properly stack boxes onto shipping palletsGather ingredients and raw materials from the warehouse, or pre-production storage areaPerform Lot Code verificationInspect and sort raw materials for qualityMeasure ingredients for roasting and mixingLoad ingredients into totes for roastingOperate automated roasting and mixing equipment per Company SOP's to produce batched productSet timers for ovens. Load product into ovens and monitor product to ensure proper temperature and roasting times are usedMix product in mixing drumsManage detailed cleaning tasks through sanitation checklist and master sanitation scheduleConfer with management and production personnel on problems and recommend changes in equipment, procedures, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and product qualityMaintain chemical usage and cleaning logsResponsible for inventory and storing of sanitation supplies and chemicalsPerform housekeeping and cleaning duties, according to Company SSOPsPerform other duties as assignedMeet Company's expectations of its' Basic BeliefsSelection Criteria:EducationHigh School diploma or GED is preferredExperiencePrior experience working in a food manufacturing facility preferred, but not requiredOther QualificationsAble to work with and around cleaning chemicals and perform all sanitation dutiesDemonstrated reliable attendance record and ability to comply with attendance policy; Understands punctuality is keyBasic computer skillsAbility to work as part of a teamAbility to work safely around/with automated and semi-automated machineryMust be able to work safely around food allergens such as tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, and soyAbility to routinely lift, up to 50 poundsProficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English is required to ensure comprehension of CGMPS (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and accurate completion of production documentation related to food safety and traceability, for compliance to food safety laws and regulations governed by US agencies (FDA, USDA/FSIS).Physical Requirements:Stand, bend, reach, and kneel, for extended periods frequently.Standing for 8-10 hours.Walk up and down stairs frequently.Ability to routinely lift, up to 50 pounds.Wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment) provided by the company.Other Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, you will work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high and employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment. This is an indoor food manufacturing setting.Exposure to food production areas, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures (both hot and cold).This position is based out of the Sahale Snacks facility in Tukwila, WA.Additional Notes:This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
