The County of Santa Barbara's Information Technology Department has one (1) part time, extra help vacancy for a Financial Office Professional II. The vacancy is located in Santa Barbara, CA.

The County of Santa Barbara's Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking a Financial Office Professional II to support the fiscal operations behind the County's technology services. This position handles the day-to-day financial record keeping that keeps ITD's budget and procurement work on track. The incumbent works in the County's financial systems, including Workday ERP, uses intermediate-level Excel to organize and verify data, and applies established regulations and procedures while exercising judgment to resolve routine issues. The ideal candidate brings accuracy and thoroughness, clear and courteous communication, and a customer-focused approach to keeping ITD's finances moving. This position works under general supervision and is well suited to someone who enjoys detailed fiscal work in a fast-moving technology environment.

This position is onsite with the potential to transition to a hybrid onsite/remote schedule, requiring weekly onsite work. It is approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule available during standard office hours, 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Examples of Duties

• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices in compliance with governmental policies, procedures, and fund accounting requirements
• Ensure proper coding of expenditures
• Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documents while verifying budget availability in the appropriate fund
• Maintain accurate and organized vendor records, including W-9 forms, tax status, and contract documentation
• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, and purchase orders
• Assist with monitoring encumbrances and verifying that expenditures align with approved budgets
• Reconcile accounts payable activity, including reviewing aging reports and following up on outstanding items
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, reporting, and documentation for audits
• Prepare and issue invoices for services, fees, and interdepartmental charges
• Coordinate with departments to resolve billing issues or discrepancies
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with state and local laws, internal control standards, and fund accounting practices
• Assist with other fiscal projects as needed and other duties as assigned
