Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Newton, MA (Hybrid - approximately 2 days in office). This role is contract through year-end with potential extension through February and possible contract-to-hire opportunity.Summary:Our confidential client, a well-established and growing financial services organization, is seeking a Contract Senior Accountant to join its collaborative finance team. This role will provide critical support during a planned leave of absence and offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while working alongside an experienced accounting leadership team.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys owning the details, improving processes, and partnering across the business in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Responsibilities:

• Manage billing requests and fee setup for client accounts
• Reconcile billing systems to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and perform account analysis
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and supporting schedules
• Support financial reporting and year-end audit preparation
• Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely financial information

What we're looking for:The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented Senior Accountant who can quickly step into a collaborative environment and take ownership of billing, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently while also partnering effectively with accounting leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Financial reporting and audit support experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner across departments
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, reconciliations, account analysis, and reporting

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience within wealth management, financial services, or professional services
• Billing and fee processing experience
• Experience reconciling billing systems to the general ledger
• Experience supporting external audits
• Exposure to internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvement initiatives
• Experience with ORION and/or Salesforce is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
