Work Environment\nThis position offers a remote work setting, allowing for flexibility in your schedule while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You will engage with both clients and colleagues through a secure telehealth platform designed to facilitate efficient communication and collaboration. The work week typically runs from Monday to Friday, with standard hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though occasional evening shifts may be required based on patient needs and scheduling considerations.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the individual needs of older adults, focusing on understanding their unique life circumstances and mental health challenges. \n
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic methodologies while accounting for cognitive changes and physical health issues. \n
- Utilize therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and family therapy to effectively address psychiatric conditions among elderly patients. \n
- Collaborate closely with a team of geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that all aspects of a patient’s care are coordinated and integrated. \n
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency support, ensuring patient safety during mental health emergencies. \n
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources that can facilitate recovery and improve quality of life. \n
- Maintain meticulous, confidential records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards, ensuring all patient interactions are accurately recorded. \n
- Actively participate in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge. \n
- Stay abreast of the latest research, best practices, and advancements in geriatric psychiatry, applying new knowledge to improve treatment and patient outcomes. \n
This role is primarily focused on the geriatric population, which presents unique mental health challenges, including but not limited to age-related cognitive decline, chronic physical health issues, and complicated familial dynamics. Your expertise in understanding these factors will play a crucial role in developing effective treatment plans and fostering trust-based relationships with patients and their families.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. \n
- Current and valid state licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT is mandatory for eligibility. \n
- Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting is preferred, especially with geriatric clients. \n
- Strong knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities. \n
- Proven experience in delivering individual and family therapy targeted at older adult populations. \n
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a patient-centered, empathetic, and supportive approach to therapy. \n
- Competence in electronic health record (EHR) systems and proficiency in various computer applications. \n
- Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting. \n

- Prior experience in telehealth or remote counseling is a plus. \n
- Familiarity with geriatric community resources and support services enhances the care you can provide. \n
- Continued engagement in professional development through workshops, training, and seminars related to geriatric mental health. \n
The annual salary for this position ranges between USD 75,000 and 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
