IT Business Manager

Provide strategic oversight and coordination of WashU IT business operations, including finance, HR, supply chain, process improvement, and general administrative functions Partner with WashU IT leadership and central university offices on budget, forecasting, reporting, procurement, workforce, policy, and operational processes Own the quarterly IT Balanced Scoreboard, operational calendars, training/compliance tracking, leadership reporting, and communications Standardize and document administrative workflows through SOPs and improve ServiceNow and Workday workflows Manage finance and HR approval processes with the COO and CFO Lead process-improvement efforts by mapping workflows and tracking cycle times, error rates, and improvement metrics Support benchmarking against peer institutions and frameworks including Gartner, AAMC, and

Manage equipment/software asset inventory and work-location data Coordinate logistics for major meetings, engagement events, leadership forums, and disaster recovery/business continuity exercises Directly manage the administrative assistant team and coordinate contractor/consultant agreements Maintain internal policies and communication channels; serve as escalation point for administrative issues Manage IT contract inventory, renewal calendar, vendor performance, software license compliance, true-ups, vendor commitments, and procurement compliance Serve as primary IT liaison to Central Finance for finance structure, cost centers, chargebacks, budgeting, capitalization, and system access Direct financial functions of WashU IT related to WashU Medicine, including planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, variance analysis, revenue modeling, cost/project accounting, and auditing Review and approve WashU Medicine IT financial transactions Requirements Master’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education Experience managing business operations, finance, procurement, administrative functions, and process improvement initiatives Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups and business functions Financial Management Supervision No specific certification/professional license is required No specific work experience is required for the position Driver’s license is not required Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in managing business operations, finance, and procurement processes while leading process improvement initiatives.
