Medical AssistantEssential Duties and Major Responsibilities:Prepares patients for visits with providers by performing and recording vital signs (including: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, and other procedures as needed)Assists in routine physical examinations by preparing the patient, the equipment, and supplies, and assisting the provider as neededAssists in preparing patients for routine diagnostic procedures (i.e. urine specimens) and performing selected screening tests (including: urine dipsticks, urine hCG, and rapid strep throat cultures)Assists in preparing routine diagnostic request formsBooks patients for tests and appointments with outside facilities and/or specialistsWork is of medium demand, walking and standing.Occasional lifting of patients with assistance, reaching, handling and fingering of instruments and equipment and caring of patient needs.Hearing to distinguish difference in heartbeat and breathing of patients and to hear instructions.Near visual acuity to read gauges and dials on equipment.Color vision for perceiving changes in patient's skin color or color of solutions.Able to lift 40 lbs.Managing patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and non-clinical staff interacting with patientsDemonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center missionDemonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and StandardsPerforms other job related duties as required or assignedMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required, Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent preferredPrevious experience preferredBilingual in Spanish and/or Hmong is a plusWork experience similar to a medical office environmentComputer skills for accurate data entryKnowledge of basic medical terminologyCPR certification or equivalentDemonstrated interpersonal relationship skillsDemonstrated written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated ability to work in a fast paced medical office environmentPreferred Skills:Medical office experience: Some KnowledgeAccurate Data Entry: Some KnowledgeMedical terminology: Some KnowledgeBilingual (Spanish/Eng.): IntermediatePreferred Behaviors:Team Player: Works well as a member of a groupDetail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done wellEnthusiastic: Shows intense and eager enjoyment and interestPreferred Motivations:Growth Opportunities: Inspired to perform well by the chance to take on more responsibilityAbility to Make an Impact: Inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organizationEducation:High School or better.Licenses & Certifications:Required: CPRPreferred: Certified Medical Asst.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
