Land Conservation Leader Corpsmember (Denver)

Become a Land Conservation Leader for our Land Conservation program based in Denver! The Land Conservation program is a team-based, 13 week-long program for individuals between the ages 18-24. Land Conservation Leaders guide and support Trail or Forestry participants (called  Corpsmembers ) as they serve on environmental stewardship projects on public lands throughout the Denver metro area. Crew Leaders will be enrolled in AmeriCorps—a national community service program.

Land Conservation Leaders will earn up to $1,360.00 biweekly and earn a $4,546.50  scholarship at the same time!   The  t otal compensation including biweekly pay and AmeriCorps Education Award is $22,380.

Special Benefits

Compensation and Benefits
 Biweekly stipend: Earn a program total living stipend of $22,380. The
stipend will be paid every two weeks from March 20-November 17, 2023.
The program total stipend reflects two different rates of pay, associated
with the following:
o During training (March 20 – May 21), members will earn $1,160
every two weeks before taxes.
o Upon joining a Crew Leadership team* (May 22 – November 17), members will earn $1,320 every two
weeks before taxes.
*position descriptions with additional requirements of Crew Leader positions are available upon
request
 AmeriCorps Education Award: Earn a scholarship of $4,546.50 upon successful completion of the term
(1,200 hours of service). This award can be used to pay tuition, pay back qualifying student loans or go on
an expedition through a wilderness school! Corpsmembers have 7 years to use the award.
 Student Loan Forbearance - Corpsmembers can apply to put their qualified federal student loans on hold
during their term through the National Service Trust.
 Health Insurance - Corpsmembers are eligible for health insurance on the 1st of the month after serving at
MHYC for 60 days. Corpsmember contribution required.
 Counseling - Corpsmembers receive up to 7 free mental health counseling sessions per year.
 Networking - Corpsmembers have opportunities to network with federal, state and local natural resources
professionals and access to a vast alumni network!
 Training – Corpsmembers will receive training in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Leave No TraceTM outdoor ethics,
facilitation and public speaking, peer mentoring and extensive leadership development. Depending on
crew assignments, Corpsmembers will receive training in one or more stewardship skillsets, including S-212
Wildland Fire Chainsaws (required for sawyers), trail building and maintenance and pesticide application.
