EL Tutor

Position Type: Tutor/ELL Tutor Date Posted: 4/20/2026 Location: Districtwide Ridgefield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable English Learner (EL) Tutor to support multilingual learners in their academic growth and language development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Connecticut English Language Proficiency (CELP) Standards, the ability to interpret LAS Links scores, and the skills to provide targeted instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This role requires a collaborative and flexible approach to working with students, teachers, and school staff to ensure equitable access to the curriculum. Key Responsibilities: Provide targeted instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to support English language development. Use LAS Links scores and other data to assess student progress and tailor instruction accordingly. Scaffold Tier 1 curriculum as needed to support students at various stages of language acquisition. Align instruction with CELP Standards to ensure language goals are met. Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate language learning strategies into the general education setting. Adapt materials and instructional approaches to meet the diverse needs of EL students. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and confidence. Participate as part of an English Learner department, including department meetings and consultation sessions. Qualifications: Experience providing instruction in a school setting. Experience working with multilingual learners in an instructional setting. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Flexible, student-centered, and committed to supporting language acquisition and academic success. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching certification or coursework in TESOL, bilingual education, or a related field is a plus. Experience in an educational setting, preferably working with EL/ML students. This is a flexible, part-time position with hours determined based on student needs.
