The Lake Travis Independent School District is a 6A district located alongside the south shore of picturesque Lake Travis in the Texas Hill Country, about 20 miles west of Austin.

The district encompasses 118.2 square miles that are bound by the shores of Lake Travis on the north, Travis and Hays county lines on the south, the Pedernales River to the west, and Lake Austin and Barton Creek to the east.

Originally a component of the Dripping Springs school district, Lake Travis ISD was formed on June 12, 1981. At that time, 541 students were enrolled in grades K-12. Since then, district enrollment has increased to approximately 10,770 students (October 2025) in 11 campuses, including:

Description/Notes:

Under the direction of the Principal(s) and Executive Director of Special Education, provides special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Develops or modifies curricula and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Works in self-contained, team, departmental or itinerant capacity as assigned.

Qualifications:

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned. Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. At least one semester of student teaching or one year of approved internship. Dyslexia program training preferred (ie: Basic Language
Skills, Take Flight, Reading by Design, etc).

Salary Range:

187 work days. See current hiring pay grade on the Teacher
Compensation Plan.
