Gates County Schools Job Description CTE - Agriculture Teacher PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To build a strong background in agricultural sciences and education, with the ability to inspire and engage students in hands-on learning experiences. This position involves teaching a comprehensive curriculum that includes both theoretical and practical components of agriculture, fostering student interest in agricultural careers, and promoting awareness of sustainable practices. POSITION: 10-month(1-year contract for 2026-2027) SALARY: Salary to be determined by the DPI state policy schedule Reports to: Principal QUALIFICATIONS Licensing/Certification
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, fax machines, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor classroom conditions and regularly works near a video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work is typically performed in a classroom setting. Daily contact is made with all classified employees, teachers, administrators, and students in person. TE FLSA STATUS: Exempt This job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity. Essential and marginal job functions are subject to modification.

- Minimum Bachelor's degree from an approved Educator Preparation Program
- Hold or be able to obtain a North Carolina Teachers License in the area 700
- To practice and promote positive interaction with and among students
- To demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and an interest in students
- To encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students
- To demonstrate knowledge of the subject being taught
- To demonstrate the ability to adjust presentation of subject content to students' needs and interests
- To exhibit evidence of effective lesson plans, including the utilization of appropriate materials and resources, varied teaching techniques and learning activities
- To maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons
- To keep students on task and to use positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to maintain good student discipline
- To comply with school and school board policies and regulations
- To work cooperatively with the total staff
- To relate positively to parents and other community representatives
- To demonstrate professional growth
- To accept responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to the school
- To use instructional and planning time effectively
- To assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities
- To assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to the teacher's care
- To perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Principal or designee
