Facility Safety Manager – Overview Step into a leadership role as a Facility Safety Manager with the Department of Corrections at SCI‑Dallas. In this position, you will help ensure a safe and well‑managed environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. Your work will support essential safety programs and strengthen daily operations. Responsibilities Perform safety inspections and complete required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews; prepare related reports. Plan quarterly fire drills, maintain schedules, and document results to meet accreditation standards. Coordinate institution‑wide sanitation and pest control programs to maintain proper conditions. Maintain logs, inspection results, fire equipment records, and required documentation. Manage chemical safety information, inventories, labeling, and notifications. Conduct safety and emergency training for staff and inmate workers; maintain training records. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment, 37.5‑hour work week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework: This position does not allow telework. Salary: Starting annual salary of $59,345 (before taxes) for new hires with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Qualifications One year of professional experience in an organized accident prevention, fire prevention, environmental safety, or security program, and a bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements Advanced Safety Certification from the National Safety Council within five years. Radiological Safety Officer Certification upon hire. Lead Renovator Certification upon hire. Asbestos Supervisor and Building Inspector Certification upon hire. Additional Requirements Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. Must be a trained firefighter.
