T&T Iron & Metals Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our team in East Dubuque, IL. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of equipment including semi-trucks, roll-off trucks, lugger trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, skid steers, material handlers, and other heavy equipment used in recycling and scrap metal operations.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and capable of working independently to keep equipment operating efficiently and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel engine issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on semi-trucks, roll-off trucks, lugger trucks, trailers, forklifts, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
• Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Repair and replace brakes, suspension components, steering systems, driveline components, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, sensors, lighting, and charging systems.
• Perform engine diagnostics and repairs on diesel-powered equipment.
• Complete welding, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Ensure all equipment meets company safety standards and DOT requirements.
• Respond to breakdowns and equipment issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized shop and work area.
• Assist with equipment setup, modifications, and fleet improvements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, fleet mechanic, truck technician, or related position.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment repair.
• Experience working on semi-trucks, roll-off trucks, lugger trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, or similar equipment preferred.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs independently.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class A or B is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Monday–Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM
• Overtime opportunities available
• Occasional after-hours or emergency repair work as needed
