Maintenance Director

Location: Carbondale Community High School Date Available: 07/01/2026 Position Notice Maintenance Director (Posted May 15, 2026) Type of Position 12-Month Administrative Position Salary Not less than $75,000 per year, paid twice a month on the 10th and 25th. Benefits Sick Leave: 15 days per year (accumulate to 340) Bereavement Leave: 2 days per year Personal Leave: 2 days per year Vacation: 22 days per year Paid Holidays: 11 days per year – New Year's Day, Friday before Easter, Juneteenth National Freedom Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve. Holiday work is compensated at one and a half times the regular rate in addition to regular holiday pay. Sick Leave Bank Fitness Reimbursement Board paid single health insurance. Board contribution to family health, dental and vision insurance. Life Insurance: Term life insurance $35,000. Additional coverage may be purchased at the employee's cost. Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance: 1.5 times annual salary rounded to nearest thousand dollars. Coverage details apply for loss of life, sight, or limbs. Projected Starting Date July 1, 2026 Position Purpose The Maintenance Director is responsible for maintaining the school district facilities and grounds, overseeing the Maintenance Department personnel and the performance of custodial services of buildings and grounds of School District 165. Essential Functions Maintaining the school district HVAC systems Receiving, evaluating, and assigning routine maintenance tasks Supervising maintenance personnel and overseeing custodial services Developing and supervising completion of preventative maintenance program on heating and air conditioning systems, drains and mechanical equipment in the District Monitoring heating and air conditioning equipment to ensure proper performance, evaluating complaints and referring to maintenance staff or to Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or other repair services as needed Making minor repairs to equipment, adjusting thermostats, and other tasks to maintain room comfort Monitoring computer control system, programming as necessary for special events, programming computer to conserve as much energy as possible, working with Johnson Controls to upgrade energy‑saving capability Attending service schools and meetings to obtain new information about controls and mechanical systems Scheduling routine and emergency maintenance service with service contractors Making recommendations to supervisor and administration to increase efficiency of operation in the District Authorizing payment of overtime hours for maintenance staff Approving purchases of supplies, materials and equipment used for maintenance purposes. Ensuring supplies and materials are identified for use, initiating purchase orders, recording expenditures and filing purchase orders Working with maintenance personnel to develop an inventory of frequently used repair parts such as flush valves Pursuing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, CSBO or Superintendent.
