Database Administrator (DBA)

Salary: $92,000 - 132,000 per year Requirements:

• At least 7 years of experience as a database administrator supporting production enterprise systems.
• Hands-on IBM DB2 administration (version 10.x or later) preferred; equivalent Oracle or SQL Server expertise with DB2 cross-training will be considered.
• Experience with cloud-managed databases; AWS Aurora or RDS (PostgreSQL or MySQL) preferred.
• Advanced SQL skills, stored procedure development, and performance-tuning experience.
• Experience with backup and recovery, high-availability/disaster-recovery design, and replication.
• Database security hardening and compliance experience in a regulated environment.
• Automation scripting skills, such as Python or Shell, and familiarity with infrastructure as code.
• Experience supporting database changes through CI/CD and version-controlled schema migrations.
• Experience with DB2 and MySQL or PostgreSQL in hybrid legacy-to-cloud modernization environments.
• Working knowledge of database security controls, audit logging, encryption, least privilege, records retention, and regulated PII handling.
• Preferred: Legacy-to-cloud database migration experience using DMS, SCT, or equivalent tools.
• Preferred: Federal environment experience with STIGs and formal configuration management.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Kubernetes-hosted application data patterns and connection pooling at scale.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

• Administer, monitor, and tune production and non-production databases, including proactive alerting, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.
• Support migration from legacy on-premises platforms to cloud-managed services, including schema conversion, data movement, and cutover planning.
• Design and review schemas, indexes, partitioning, and stored procedures; optimize queries and investigate the root causes of performance incidents.
• Maintain database security controls, including access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, auditing, and privileged access management.
• Maintain baseline configurations, configuration-management records, and system-component inventories on the required schedule.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability configurations; test and document recovery procedures.
• Remediate database-layer vulnerabilities and STIG findings, and keep platform versions within supported release windows.
• Support developers and analysts with data access patterns, test-data provisioning, and migration validation.
• Support DB2-to-cloud and MySQL migration planning for Drupal/PACE modernization, including schema conversion, reconciliation, performance baselines, cutover, rollback, and post-migration validation.
• Support database monitoring, alerting, root-cause analysis, vulnerability remediation, version currency, and release and change evidence for database changes.
