Laborer - Commercial Construction

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. RESPONSIBILITIES

• As a Laborer you may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require you to assist other trades people including carpenters.
• Loading, unloading, and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations.
• Move materials to or from storage or work sites.
• Driving equipment as needed.
• Selective demolition, concrete placement or flagging.
• Proficient in stacking and assembling materials into bundles.
• Making simple repairs and adjustments to machinery or trucks.
• Work independently and with little direction.
• Have initiative to find work activities when waiting for next task directive.
• Assist Carpenter's general partition layout, framing, sheet rock installation and other rough and finish carpentry work as assigned.
• Build temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.
• General clean‑up including vacuuming, sweeping, and rubbish removal.
• Selective demolition of non‑load‑bearing walls, ceilings, and flooring material and clean up of all demolition debris.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred.
• OSHA 10, preferred.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and ability to multi‑task.
• Task‑oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible availability, may include some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
