Optician

Job purpose:

Our growing and thriving Optometry office is looking for a full-time Optician for one of our optical locations. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced Optician, who wants an opportunity for career growth. The Optician is responsible for assisting patients with the selection of proper eyewear. 

Duties and responsibilities:

• Process lab orders.
• Dispense glasses.
• Check, test, adjust and repair various aspects of lens and frame issues.
• Ensure proper merchandise presentation.
• Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge and accurately describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames to our customers.
• Instruct patients in adapting to, wearing of, and caring for eyewear.
• Knowledge of the different brands of lenses and lens materials currently available and willingness to keep current with new lens technologies is needed.
• Measure customer's eyes, including pupillary and vertex distance making all required measurements for bifocals, trifocals or progressive addition lenses.

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of sales experience.
• We are willing to provide assistance and training to prepare candidates for ABO certification exam.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Possesses knowledge of retail and technology.

Working conditions:

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 5:30.
• Paid time off, holiday pay, medical and dental.

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
