Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Engineering Department, Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, MS of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Responsibilities You will perform planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance on shipboard oceanographic instrumentation, including data acquisition systems, bathymetry subsystems, multi-beam echo sounders, and various sensor suites. You will conduct operational checks, tuning and adjusting electronic equipment to ensure optimal performance and data quality during the mission. You will troubleshoot and isolate complex electronic component failures and malfunctions in a wide variety of specialized systems where no fixed patterns exist. You will review and update existing documents including drawings, circuit diagrams, and detailed procedures, to ensure they are accurate and adequate for maintaining an effective maintenance program. You will function as a key maintenance figure for the assigned platform, executing the 3M (maintenance and material management) program and ensuring compliance with all applicable instructions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience operating, maintaining, and calibrating complex electronics equipment and precision measurement tools. Experience utilizing foundational skills such as soldering and de-soldering techniques, wire splicing, and routine safety procedures. Experience troubleshooting, isolating, and repairing malfunctions down to the component level using schematic analyses and technical publications. Experience performing material maintenance management and repairs. Experience reading and interpreting technical orders, manufacture schematics, and system blueprints.
