The 2nd Floor Post-Surgical Unit is a 40-bed adult inpatient unit that primarily serves patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, general surgeries, and urologic interventions. With an average of 510 admissions per day, the unit stays active while maintaining a strong focus on quality post-operative care.

Responsibilities include assisting in providing a quality patient experience, providing quality patient care, completing required documentation accurately, promoting effective communication, ensuring teamwork, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment, responding appropriately in emergency situations, providing assistance and customer service, and procuring supplies and equipment in accordance with departmental needs.

Education: Completion of state approved Level 1 Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or its equivalent. High School Diploma or equivalent required, any higher education from an accredited college will supersede this requirement.

Licensure/Certification: Current listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I registry. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.

Experience: At least one year in a health care role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to provide excellent patient and customer service, effective interpersonal skills, attention to detail, flexibility and calmness, ability to follow oral and written instructions, ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively, ability to learn new software rapidly, familiarity with basic medical terminology. Valid NC Driver's License: No. If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
