Process Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivatedProcess Engineerto join our dynamic chemical manufacturing team. Reporting directly to thePlant Manager, the Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining chemical production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting safe chemical operations across the facility.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Design & Optimization– Develop, evaluate, and improve chemical manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs.Data Analysis– Collect and analyze process data using statistical tools to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement.Production Support– Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process-related issues, minimize downtime, and ensure consistent product quality.Documentation– Create and maintain process documentation including SOPs, work instructions, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and facility diagrams.Cross-Functional Collaboration– Work closely with R&D, quality, EHS, maintenance, and supply chain teams to support new product introductions, scale-up activities, and process changes.Safety & Compliance– Ensure all chemical processes comply with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations. Champion a culture of safety throughout the facility.Actively participate in and promote the facility'sProcess Safety Management (PSM)program. Conduct and participate inProcess Hazard Analyses (PHAs) SupportManagement of Change (MOC)processes for all process modifications.Continuous Improvement– Lead and participate inLean Six Sigmainitiatives, Kaizen events, and waste reduction projects to drive operational excellence Troubleshooting– Investigate and resolve process deviations, chemical non-conformances, yield losses, and quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor's degree inChemical or MechanicalEngineeringor a closely related field (e.g., Chemistry, Process or Industrial Engineering).3–5 years of hands-on experience in a process engineering role within achemical manufacturingenvironment.Demonstrated experience applyingLean Six Sigma methodologiesin a manufacturing setting Experience withProcess Safety Management (PSM)programs in a chemical facility – preferredFamiliarity withP&IDdevelopment and review.Knowledge ofPHA,FMEA and other risk assessment methodologies.Experience with ERP/MES systems (e.g., Oracle) is a plus.Working ConditionsPrimarily chemical plant/manufacturing floor environment.Regular exposure to chemical processing areas requiring strict adherence to PPE protocols (safety glasses, gloves, chemical-resistant clothing, etc.).May require occasional travel to other facilities, supplier sites, or customer locations.About us:PPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLDThrough leadership in innovation, sustainability and color, PPG helps customers in industrial, transportation, consumer products, and construction markets and aftermarkets to enhance more surfaces in more ways thandoes any other company.
