Enlisted Emergency Management

Air Force Emergency Managers answer the call for both natural and man-made disasters across the globe. As Emergency Management specialists, our teams conduct protective training, design exercises, and develop validation events to prepare forces for major accidents, natural disasters, and the employment of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Specialists also serve as the Air Force's primary Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) forces performing response operations, warning, and reporting to support critical missions, ensuring the safety and security of our nation.

What you'll do

• Execute the coordinated response to hazardous materials incidents and the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) agents.
• Prepare the installation community for hazards and threats by spreading awareness and protective actions.
• Perform advanced training to prepare for and provide effective response to future disasters
• Prevent and deter emerging threats by monitoring intelligence information and coordinating with mission partners
• Detect, quantify, and monitor incident contamination and recommend personal protective equipment posture to senior leadership

Key things to consider requirements

• You must be 17–42 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score

  High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.

  Applicants who are non-graduates or non-alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.

  • No record of claustrophobia
  • Normal color vision
  • Completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit
  • Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
  • Must be at least 17, but has not reached age 42 on the date of enlistment
