Examinations will be held on a continuous recruitment basis. Applications will be scheduled for review according to the date on which the application is received. Names of successful candidates will be certified on the eligible list in score order, regardless of the date on which application was filed. Names of successful candidates will be removed from the eligible list at the time of appointment to a full or a part time position or one year after being placed on the list. Candidates may refile for this examination nine months after being placed on the list. Candidates may apply for one or more examinations listed above; as separate lists will be established, a $50.00 fee is required for each examination applied for. Please review the minimum qualifications carefully, as each examination requires certification in the specialty denoted.

Duties

Provides primary care, including examinations and treatment of illness, assessments, and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. Initiates preventative strategies, provides counseling, and detects and treats illness. Plans, organizes, coordinates, implements, and evaluates specific clinical and educational programs and patient care in a hospital, ambulatory care, and community facility; performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be met by the day the application is submitted: Continuing possession of both a license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, and certification by the New York State Department of Education as a Nurse Practitioner reflecting the specialty required by the position.
