POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Strategist supports Budget Services through advanced data analysis, validation, and reporting to drive accurate ?nancial reporting and informed decision-making. The role transforms complex budget data into actionable insights, supports compliance with ?nancial reporting requirements, and partners across departments to improve data access, reporting clarity, and operational ef?ciency.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Additional years of equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• N/A

WORK EXPEREINCE:

• 3 years experience data analysis and production
• Experience in K-12 education or public sector preferred

• Strong knowledge and experience in data collection, analysis, reporting, and dashboard tools
• Knowledge of quantitative and statistical methodologies
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school-based staff, community members, and external stakeholders

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Conceptualizes, builds, and maintains interactive data dashboards for school and Central Office stakeholders to support decision-making and performance monitoring
• Analyzes school, cluster, and district-level data to identify trends and inform school improvement and budget strategy
• Serves as a subject matter expert in data analysis, visualization, interpretation, and reporting across Budget Services
• Develops and prepares recurring and ad hoc financial and budget reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders
• Coordinates major Budget Services reporting deliverables, including the Budget Book (GFOA/ASBO), Board reports, Budget Primer, BFAC materials, and required state submissions
• Maintains and enhances financial and operational data systems, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and accessibility for internal and external users
• Performs routine data integrity checks and collaborates with data owners (e.g., Accounting, Data Information Group) to ensure consistency across systems
• Partners with the Communications Department to support clear presentation and dissemination of budget and financial information
• Provides training and guidance to school and department staff on interpreting financial reports and conducting independent analysis
• Supports development and maintenance of financial accountability tools, including budget monitoring reports, chart of accounts coordination, and internal resource tracking.
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative
