Women and LGBT Center Director (HR Title: Director Women & LGBT Center)

Salary Range Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. About the Position The Director of the Women and LGBT Center will be responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive educational programs to address the needs of women and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community on campus. This position will act as an advocate for students on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation issues, and promote an inclusive environment on campus. Primary responsibilities include providing leadership in implementing programming and education for the entire university community, advising students and student organizations, counseling and assisting students with problem solving and conflict mediation, managing departmental and program budgets, and supervising program coordinator, student and para‑professional staff. The role is an on‑campus, in‑person position. Essential Functions Plan, execute, and assess departmental educational programs, including Allies Program, Women Symposium, LGBT Equality Forum, campus training activities, and learning experiences such as Intersections, seminars, and the Athletics Diversity Council Class. Work with students, faculty, and staff on women’s, gender, and LGBT awareness issues, advising and collaborating with student organizations, and creating partnerships with other campus offices and community partners. Provide administrative oversight including budget management, website maintenance, assessment of program and learning outcomes, and daily operational functions. Direct public relations efforts related to the Center, including information fairs, campus outreach, and president commission committees. Facilitate networking and program collaborations with students, staff, faculty, and community members. Represent the Center on the Student Development Leadership team and university committees. Support the implementation of student affairs strategic plan goals and learning domains. Other duties as assigned. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for programs, trainings, and retreats. Qualifications Education and Experience A Master’s degree is required. Minimum of six (6) years of experience in programming related to gender issues, LGBT student experiences, and diversity. Experience in event planning and strong community networking is required. Experience in training, teaching, and facilitation of educational programs is required. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate broadly across the university and build relationships with diverse constituencies. Strong written communication skills. Problem‑solving skills, with ability to identify, analyze problems, and devise solutions. Strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills. Ability to work well with college students in an advising and development environment. In-depth understanding of inclusive collegiate environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web programs, and general computer skills. Physical and Environmental Demands Sit for long periods of time. Handle objects (dexterity).
