Job Description

The Network / Automation Technician supports the communication infrastructure and automation systems that enable oil and gas field operations. This role is responsible for maintaining connectivity between field equipment, control systems, and operational platforms to ensure reliable data flow and system performance.

The technician works closely with operations, automation, and engineering teams to troubleshoot communication issues, support system upgrades, and maintain network reliability across production environments. This position is primarily office-based with collaboration across field locations and operates on a 5/2 schedule.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience in oil and gas automation, SCADA systems, or industrial networking who enjoy solving technical problems and supporting operational technology.

Responsibilities

• Support communication networks connecting field locations, automation systems, and operational platforms
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving radios, switches, routers, and field communication equipment
• Assist with configuration and maintenance of industrial networking hardware
• Monitor system health and respond to network or automation alerts
• Work with field technicians to diagnose communication failures between sites
• Support SCADA, PLC, and automation systems connectivity
• Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements
• Maintain documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
• Support cybersecurity practices related to operational technology environments
• Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to maintain reliable field communications

Skills

• Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, routing, switching, wireless communication)
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and systems
• Ability to diagnose and resolve network and automation issues
• Knowledge of radio communications, fiber, or field networking equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Good communication skills and ability to work across technical and operational teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Experience in oil and gas operations, automation, SCADA, or industrial networking preferred
• Background in network support, automation technician work, or communications infrastructure
• Familiarity with PLC systems, SCADA platforms, or field telemetry is a plus
• Experience supporting routers, switches, wireless radios, or industrial networks preferred
• Technical certifications, relevant training, or equivalent hands-on experience beneficial
• Ability to work independently and support operational teams when issues arise

Position Details :

Location : Charlotte, TX

Pay Rate: $40-$45/per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday
