Charge RN (ED) - Nights Department: 7010-Emergency Room Employment Type: Full Time Location: 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780 ("HOSPITAL") Reporting To: Mildred Cureton Compensation: $46.00 - $69.00 / hour Description The Emergency Department Charge Nurse oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice, and the standards of care for the assigned shift. The ED Charge RN directs patient care activities by assigning staff and functions on the unit based on the Charge RN’s assessment of patient needs and the relative skills and abilities of staff, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. Our Values Put Patients First Empower Entrepreneurial Provider and Care Teams Be Innovative Operate With Integrity & Excellence Work As One Team What You'll Do Oversees daily unit operations, assigns staff based on competency and acuity, provides leadership, coaching, performance management, and supports hiring and onboarding. Provides clinical oversight and direct patient care as needed, ensuring safe, age‑appropriate, evidence‑based nursing practice and timely response to changes in patient condition. Partners with physicians to develop and manage individualized plans of care, supports pain management, reviews test results, and ensures accurate assessment and documentation. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, optimize departmental flow, delegate responsibilities, educate staff and patients, and support discharge planning. Promotes compassionate, culturally sensitive communication and ensures staff adherence to hospital standards, infection control, HIPAA, and patient safety practices. Qualifications Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing AHA Basic Life Saving Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment Understanding of patient classification and staffing requirements for the patient population Demonstrated experience in a leadership role Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) One year nursing experience AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support One year of previous emergency nursing experience or completion of emergency department training course (to include EMTALA and ESI 5 level triage Prior experience as a charge nurse preferred. Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions This is a full-time position. Your schedule will be compromised of 3 12-hour shifts between the hours of 7 PM - 730 AM. Weekends are required at a rate of every other weekend. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780. The compensation pay range for this position is $46- $69/hr.
