Lead Electric Distribution Analyst

This position is responsible for performing and coordinating a wide variety of difficult operational and financial duties and analyses. It requires knowledge of the electric line of business and utility accounting processes, and it provides oversight for budgeting employees and contractors. Overview The role includes broad responsibilities across budgeting, financial analysis, and contract management for electric distribution and related operations. Responsibilities Coordinate the compilation, maintenance, and analysis of forecast and financial data for the department or division; perform financial and statistical analyses. Oversee company employees and contractor workforce focused on budgeting, invoices, overhead, damage claims, and underground electric transmission and distribution contracts; ensure all work aligns with company standards and provide direction, guidance, and training. Evaluate contractor job performance and progress; review evaluations with contractors. Plan and coordinate development of the annual operating plan for the department or division. Prepare and submit operational expense (OPEX) plans with managers and group leaders; coordinate capital budgeting with electric distribution personnel. Document processes and recommend improvements for tracking capital projects. Provide support to Electric Distribution regarding requests from Property Accounting. Guide management and other personnel on proper accounting of electric distribution lines, both Capital and O&M functions. Manage development and coordination of departmental or divisional budgets. Coordinate monthly OPEX and capital forecasts. Prepare and submit authorization for investment proposals for capital expenditures. Coordinate with contractors and ED personnel to compile monthly and year‑end accruals. Execute a wide variety of calculations and analyses to produce detailed financial and operational reports. Use Oracle, Power Plan, ARM, and related applications for budget vs. actual analysis and forecast performance; identify issues and drivers of budget over‑ and under‑runs. Provide support for company projects or assignments. Maintain good interpersonal skills for continuous interaction with all levels of management and administrative staff. Review all assigned tasks to assure efficiency and cost effectiveness; identify improvement opportunities. Monitor contracts to ensure execution per terms and conditions. Oversee the invoice review process, including compliance review of contractor invoices and supervision of the invoice review analyst. Serve as a liaison between management and contractors on contract matters such as schedule, procurement, and budget. Review contractor reports for forecast accuracy, procurement reporting, and completeness. Provide consultation, analysis, and support to management, other departments, and auditors. Participate in the Work Planning Group during restoration events using the Resource on Demand application. Understand company computer functions and systems, and their relationship to accounting. Maintain thorough knowledge of classification of accounts. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business. 7+ years of experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial and operational performance. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Ability to present information to various levels of leadership within the company. Proficiency with detailed numerical work, spreadsheets, word processing, and financial software programs. Above‑average interpersonal skills for explaining or interpreting budget policy, practices, utility accounting, property accounting, programs, and performance.
