The United States | | Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps Officers, civil service | | staff and contractors | | comprise the healthcare professionals working together to provide | | quality healthcare services. | | IHSC serves as the medical experts for ICE for detainee health care. | | It is the responsibility of the Credentialing Assistant to adhere to | | policies and procedures as | | stated in the IHSC Policies and Procedures Manual and IHSC National | | Guidance. | | MISSION: | | IHSC’s mission is to provide medical care to maintain the health of | | individuals in the custody of | | ICE through an integrated health care delivery system, based on | | nationally recognized | | correctional, detention and residential health care standards. Strong attention to detail. | | REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: | | Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an | | entity recognized by the U.S. | | Department of Education | | 1. Bachelor’s degree required. | | 2. One (1) year credentialing experience, preferably in the | | medical/healthcare environment. | | 3. Experience in automated credentialing systems. | | REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:J-3 | | 1. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) by the National | | Association Medical | | Staff Services. | | 2. This position does not require privileging by IHSC. | | 3. Maintains Heartsaver® CPR AED certification through the American | | Heart Association. | | REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: | | 1. Knowledge of the credentialing and privileging process, requirements | | and scope of practice. | | 2. Ability to manage multiple tasks, to prioritize needs and expedite | | credentialing upon request. | | 3. Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service. | | 4. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. | | 5. Ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in | | work requirements. | | 6. Ability to communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) | | in order to develop | | positive rapport with co-workers and other stakeholders. | | 7. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a | | multidisciplinary | | environment. | | 8. Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including web | | based research, training | | and communications. | | 9. Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office | | programs, | | specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. | | 10. Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the | | confidentiality of patient | | medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable | | Information (PII). | | MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: | | 1. Responsible for all functions related to healthcare worker and other | | contractor staff | | credentialing, re-credentialing and privileging in accordance with | | regulatory/compliance | | guidelines as well as IHSC requirements. | | 2. Responsible for obtaining and verifying credentials, certifications, | | state licensures, and other | | professional credentials as well as maintaining on-going checks to | | ensure that all credentials | | remain current. | | 3. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the | | credential/privileging files, whether in hard | | copy or electronic form. | | 4. Initiates and follows through on all aspects of the credentialing | | process, including initial and | | re-credentialing, for all healthcare and other staff as needed. | | 5. Prepares and generates healthcare worker and other staff | | credentialing/privileging packets | | and provides guidance to ensure timely completion. | | 6. Conduct various background checks from a wide variety of sources as | | needed to verify the | | credentials and suitability of candidates, including but not limited to: | | NPDB, OIG/GSA, National | | Sex Offender Registry, and the National Student Clearinghouse. | | 7. Maintains new hire as well as on-going credential files for IHSC | | staff, and makes them | | accessible as needed. Ensure they contain evidence of all certifications | | required, including | | training requirements. | | 8. Responsible for updating and maintaining the currency of all | | credential files. Verify that | | annual or other training/licensure is completed on a timely basis, and | | that credential files are | | updated to reflect the current status of all staffJ-3 | | 9. Produce monthly and ad hoc reports to identify any missing data or | | credentials, any | | credentials/certifications that are lapsing, and the status of | | employees’ credential files | | 10. Verify/validate employment experience, education, licensure, | | residency and other training, | | specialty board certification or current eligibility, and any other | | information from a resume, | | curriculum vitae, etc. as needed. | | 11. Document all work performed to ensure that all information is | | properly recorded and tracked | | 12. Works closely with Contractor recruiting staff as needed to provide | | updates on the status of | | activities and notify them of the outcome of research. | | 13. Completes all initial, annual and ad hoc training as | | required/assigned. | | 14. Maintains patient confidentiality, and confidentiality of all | | records, in compliance with the | | Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations in all work activities. | | 15. Adheres to, and maintains awareness of, IHSC Policies, Procedures, | | Directives, Operational | | Memoranda and accreditation standards as prescribed by ICE/IHSC. | | 16. Attends and participates in general/medical staff meetings. | | 17. Other duties as assigned. | | DUTY HOURS/ ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS: | | 1. IHSC operates 24/7/365; this position may be required to respond | | during an emergency | | activation. | | 2. On-call availability is not required for this position. | | SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: | | 1. The Department of Homeland Security’s Personnel Security Unit (PSU) | | must render a | | Preliminary Favorable Fitness Determination to be considered a qualified | | candidate. | | 2. A Complete Favorable Fitness Determination must be rendered by PSU | | upon completion of | | initial and subsequent background investigations to meet the | | requirements of this position. | | PHYSICAL DEMANDS: | | 1. Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as | | listed above. | | 2. Sitting for prolonged periods of time. | | 3. Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, | | telephone etc. | | 4. Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs. | | SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: | | This is a contract position and supervisory controls will be set forth | | by the Contractor.
