Infection Control Nurse

Infection Control SpecialistDuties include but are not limited too:Monitor, trend, and track infection control issues; recommend and implement system changes to improve patient careProvide HIV testing, counseling, and case management servicesDevelop and deliver educational programs on infection control for all staff, including new employeesServe as a consultant and resource for infection control matters across the facilityParticipate in interdisciplinary committees and quality improvement teams to evaluate and enhance clinical practiceAnalyze infection patterns, define risk factors, and identify high-risk areas for hospital-acquired infectionsEnsure compliance with VA, VISN, Medical Center, and external regulatory standards (TJC, OSHA)Evaluate and revise policies and procedures related to infection control and safetyPromote and utilize information systems for infection control planning and managementParticipate in epidemiological studies and integrate evidence-based research into infection control practicesCoach and mentor staff in infection control, infectious diseases, and professional developmentCollaborate with Employee Health and Human Resources on healthcare personnel infection controlRecognize and report unsafe or unhealthy conditions/practices; educate staff on safe work practices and PPEAdvocate for patient and family rights, confidentiality, and ethical standardsMaintain membership in professional organizations and participate in compliance awareness educationAll other duties as assignedVA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pCompressed/Flexible: AvailableTelework: Not availableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized
