Paraprofessional, Special Education Alternative Curriculum Program (ACP) Starting Salary: $21.76 per hour Location: Omaha, Nebraska - Belle Ryan Elementary Job Description Position starting August 2026. Work August through May when students are in session. Responsibilities Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by teacher and support personnel. Assist students with toileting needs and diaper changing. Carry out self‑care programs with students including feeding, tooth brushing and grooming. Assist with unloading and loading students on the van/bus. Make the classroom environment cheerful and attractive. Maintain immaculate cleanliness standards in the classroom and restrooms. Collect and record data. Make teaching materials related to the curriculum. Carry out structured behavior programs as directed by professional staff. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Interact/communicate with students as directed by professional staff. Serve as a positive member of the educational team, working effectively with other paraprofessionals and a variety of professional staff. Carry out programs in both school and non‑school settings as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information. Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead. Training in a health care related field preferred. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Follow written and oral directions to carry out educational programs of students. Committed to helping all children learn – assist students and reinforce learning concepts for individuals or small groups. Willingness to participate in professional development and in‑service trainings. Regular daily attendance is essential. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness. Ability to work with diverse populations and handle situations with tact and diplomacy. Interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly and professional manner. Possess manual dexterity, physical ability and stamina for a full day of various physical activity. Other Information Reports to: Building Principal Work Schedule: 7.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday (10 months), Non‑Exempt. Salary is administered consistent with negotiated agreement or board‑adopted salary schedule. Terms of Employment The position is treated as a full‑time non‑exempt classified position. Governing terms are applicable state laws and Board of Education policies. A collective bargaining agreement applies if represented by a union.
