About the Opportunity

Mims Financial Services is seeking motivated, client-focused professionals for a remote Life Insurance Sales Consultant opportunity.

In this role, you will communicate with prospective clients, understand their stated coverage needs, explain available insurance options, and guide interested applicants through the application process. Client consultations are primarily conducted by phone or video.

Important compensation disclosure: This is a 1099 independent contractor position paid entirely through commissions. There is no base salary, hourly wage, or guaranteed minimum income. Earnings depend on individual production and other factors and are not guaranteed.

This opportunity may suit experienced insurance agents as well as individuals transitioning from consultative sales, customer service, education, hospitality, military service, or other client-facing careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct phone and video consultations with prospective clients seeking information about insurance coverage.
• Ask questions to understand clients’ needs, priorities, and coverage objectives.
• Explain available life insurance and related products accurately and clearly.
• Present appropriate options from contracted insurance carriers, consistent with licensing requirements and company procedures.
• Follow up with prospective clients and assist with applications, underwriting requirements, and policy placement.
• Maintain accurate client records and activity notes in the company’s CRM.
• Provide timely, professional service throughout the application and placement process.
• Participate in relevant product training, professional development, and compliance education.
• Follow applicable insurance laws, carrier requirements, and company policies.

Compensation and Contractor Status

• Commission-only compensation: Earnings are based on eligible sales and applicable commission agreements.
• No guaranteed income: This role does not provide a base salary, hourly wage, or guaranteed minimum earnings.
• Commission advances and renewal compensation: These may be available under applicable agency and carrier agreements; eligibility and terms vary.
• Performance-based opportunities: Commission levels or additional incentives may be available when specified production and quality requirements are met.
• Chargebacks: Commission reversals may apply to certain canceled or lapsed policies under applicable agreements.
• Business expenses: Contractors should review the applicable agreement to understand responsibility for licensing, training, technology, lead purchases, and other expenses before accepting the opportunity.

Compensation terms will be explained during the recruiting process. Applicants should review all applicable agreements before making a commitment.

Qualifications

• An active state Life and Health insurance license, or willingness to obtain the license(s) required for the products and jurisdictions served.
• Strong verbal communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to explain insurance concepts in a clear, professional manner.
• A consultative sales approach and consistent follow-up habits.
• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
• Comfort using CRM software, video conferencing, and other digital tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Commitment to ethical sales practices, client privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Previous insurance or financial services experience is welcome but not required. Candidates with transferable experience in sales, hospitality, education, customer service, or the military are encouraged to apply.

Licensing requirements, costs, and timelines vary by state and product. Applicants must obtain the required authorization before engaging in activities that legally require an insurance license.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a remote independent contractor opportunity. Scheduling may offer flexibility, but client availability and business needs may require appointments during evenings or weekends.

Contractors are responsible for managing their work activities and meeting applicable client-service, licensing, and contractual obligations.

Professional Development and Advancement

Contractors have access to relevant training, mentorship, and professional development resources. Individuals who meet applicable performance and eligibility requirements may have opportunities to pursue additional responsibilities, including optional team development or leadership activities.
