Asset Inventory Technician - BOP
Axis Energy Services, LLC.
The Asset Inventory Technician supports accurate identification, tracking, and control of BOP equipment, components, tools, and related inventory. This hourly, nonexempt role performs hands‑on asset verification; scans and logs equipment; applies and replaces barcode or RFID tags; updates asset records; and helps reconcile physical inventory to system data across shops, yards, warehouses, and field locations. Working under the direction of the Assets Field Coordinator – BOP, the technician follows established tagging, data‑entry, custody, transfer, and documentation procedures; identifies discrepancies or damaged identifiers; and coordinates with operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and finance to maintain reliable asset records. The position requires frequent movement through industrial work areas, careful attention to detail, and consistent compliance with safety and data‑quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Travel to assigned shops, yards, warehouses, and field locations to locate and physically verify BOP equipment, components, tools, and related assets. Scan existing barcodes or RFID tags and accurately record asset identifiers, serial numbers, descriptions, locations, status, custody, and other required information in the asset‑management system. Print, program, apply, and replace barcode or RFID tags using approved placement, attachment, and labeling standards suitable for industrial equipment. Confirm that each tag is readable, securely attached, correctly associated with the asset record, and positioned without covering required markings, safety information, or certification data. Create and update asset records from approved source documents, including purchase, receipt, transfer, inspection, maintenance, certification, and disposal information. Perform cycle counts, wall‑to‑wall inventories, spot checks, and asset audits; compare physical findings with system records and document variances. Research duplicate, missing, damaged, unreadable, or unassigned tags and elevate unresolved discrepancies for review and correction. Document asset movements, transfers, check‑in/check‑out activity, storage locations, and changes in custody in accordance with established procedures. Verify readily observable asset information and condition; report damaged equipment, missing nameplates, overdue inspection or certification indicators, and other exceptions without performing technical inspection or certification work unless separately qualified and assigned. Maintain organized electronic and paper records, photographs, count sheets, exception logs, and supporting documentation needed for traceability and audit readiness. Use handheld scanners, mobile devices, label printers, computers, and related software; protect assigned equipment and report malfunctions or supply needs. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, finance, and field personnel to obtain information, gain safe access to assets, and resolve routine record discrepancies. Follow company requirements for data accuracy, document control, asset handling, housekeeping, security, and protection of company property. Comply with all safety, quality, environmental, and site‑specific requirements, including stop‑work expectations and required personal protective equipment. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma or GED required; technical, inventory‑control, maintenance, logistics, or related training is preferred. One or more years of experience in inventory control, asset tracking, warehousing, equipment operations, maintenance support, or a related industrial environment is preferred. Ability to accurately read and record serial numbers, equipment descriptions, labels, and other asset‑identification information. Basic proficiency with computers, mobile devices, handheld scanners, label printers, Microsoft Office, and inventory or asset‑management software. Strong attention to detail, data‑entry accuracy, organization, and follow‑through, with the ability to identify and document discrepancies. Ability to follow written procedures, work independently with routine supervision, and manage repetitive work without sacrificing accuracy. Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with shop, warehouse, field, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and finance personnel. Ability to safely use ladders or step stools and basic hand tools needed to attach approved asset tags, after required training. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to travel among company and field locations, as required. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. Stand and walk for extended periods while working in shops, repair facilities, warehouses, yards, fence‑line storage areas, field locations, and other indoor and outdoor areas. Frequently bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, reach, twist, climb, balance, grasp, push, and pull while locating, accessing, separating, scanning, tagging, and documenting assets. Lift up to 50 lbs. individually. In accordance with company lifting policy, loads over 50 lbs. require a two‑person lift or mechanical assistance. Frequently carry, push, pull, reposition, and otherwise handle ancillary spools, valves, ram blocks, tools, and other assets. Reach beneath, behind, between, or around equipment and retrieve assets from shop floors, storage racks, pallets, bins, repair areas, idle‑equipment areas, field‑ticket locations, fence lines, and surplus or scrap‑material areas. Use stairs, approved ladders or step stools, handheld scanners, mobile devices, label printers, and basic hand tools. Work for extended periods on uneven, muddy, dusty, oily, or obstructed surfaces and in heat, cold, wind, rain, and changing weather conditions. Sustain repetitive physical activity over inventory assignments that may involve thousands of individual assets and continue for several months. Work around noise, vibration, dust, dirt, grease, sharp or rough surfaces, moving vehicles or equipment, and other industrial hazards. Wear required personal protective equipment, follow safe‑work practices and Stop Work Authority, comply with company and site‑specific safety requirements, and travel regularly among company and field locations.
