Position Overview Worker Type: Regular Department: Nursing, with responsibilities across various units (2S, 3S, 4N, TCU, NICU, ED, and PICU) Experience Required: Minimum of one year as a licensed RN Schedule: Full-Time, Variable Shifts, 36 Hours/Week Shift Differentials: Available for night and weekend shifts Location: SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Sign-On Bonus: Discuss options with your recruiter if you are a qualified external applicant. A two-year service commitment is required for roles eligible for the sign-on bonus program. Job Summary The role involves delivering direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization. Key Responsibilities Enhance patient care quality and life by applying medical-surgical nursing standards and systematically evaluating nursing practices. Build effective relationships and advocate for patients and their families to create personalized care plans. Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Formulate assessment and management strategies considering various dimensions of human responses to health issues. Demonstrate understanding of how illnesses affect patients’ physical, cultural, social, and spiritual well-being. Exhibit leadership by collaborating with patients, families, and the interprofessional team to assess needs and plan interventions. Engage in effective communication with patients and families to ensure culturally sensitive and ethical care. Educate patients and families on health promotion and comfort measures. Contribute to a positive work environment by mentoring nursing colleagues and students. Apply evidence-based practices in medical-surgical nursing to meet age-specific and clinical needs. Maintain a state of alertness and safety while performing duties. Conduct point-of-care testing as per established policies. Perform additional tasks as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing. Experience: At least one year of experience as a registered nurse. Physical Requirements Frequent oral communication and standing/walking. Regular lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry. Regular use of vision for near and far distances, as well as color differentiation. Frequent auditory communication and recognition of sounds. Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients. Occasional bending, stooping, and other physical movements. Rarely involves crawling or running. Licenses and Certifications Location: Missouri Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or a Compact State RN license. Work Schedule Rotating shifts are required for this position.
