The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Lead Camp Cook to join our team! The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Lead Camp Cook, you will be responsible for the service of healthy meals and snacks to campers and retreat guests in our programs. The Lead Camp Cook prepares food for meals, supervises staff, maintains kitchen cleanliness, and leads a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparing all meals, storing, and putting away all leftovers.
• Maintain upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
• Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, cleaning all dishes, sweeping and mopping, and laundry every night.
• Supervise kitchen staff seeing that meal and shift responsibilities are accomplished.
• Assist in staff covering shifts as needed.
• Create with manager, specific areas to maintain such as equipment and inventory.

Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in cooking.
• 2 years' experience in customer service.
• 2 years' experience supervising staff.
• Food handler's certificate, as required by law.
• Willingness and ability to adjust to camp resources, conditions, and programs.
• Knowledge of safe practices and procedures for required tasks.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Wage: $21.02 to $21.97 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: YMCA Camp Seymour, Gig Harbor, WA
