Sparrow Company is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Plant Operator II/Site Supervisor to oversee daily operations at an aggregate and asphalt production site. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for maintaining a strong safety culture while managing extraction, processing, plant production, maintenance, staffing, contractors, and product distribution. The Site Supervisor will work closely with the Area Manager to monitor and optimize production processes, control costs, and achieve operational goals while maintaining compliance with applicable MSHA, OSHA, environmental, and company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Cultivate and maintain a positive safety culture throughout the plant and job site
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
• Lead internal employees, contractors, and external personnel in safely executing site activities
• Oversee extraction, plant operations, product distribution, and contractor activities
• Conduct and oversee pre-work inspections and ensure proper operation and maintenance of safety equipment
• Maintain compliance with MSHA requirements and applicable OSHA standards
• Monitor and optimize production processes to achieve volume and operational goals
• Develop and implement production methods, scheduling, and staffing plans to support production requirements
• Monitor uptime, tons per hour, overtime, wage costs, and other production metrics
• Manage contractors and coordinate work to support safe and efficient operations
• Plan and lead plant maintenance activities to balance maintenance spending with equipment availability
• Prioritize repair and preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and operational life
• Maintain required records and documentation for the assigned aggregate and/or asphalt site
• Ensure required environmental, MSHA, and OSHA records are maintained accurately and timely
• Work with the Quality Control team to establish production targets for in-specification products
• Support applicable product testing and reporting requirements
• Coordinate with vendors and procurement regarding parts, equipment, and services
• Balance production requirements with costs, availability, and lead times when obtaining parts and services
• Work with internal and external teams to meet environmental and reclamation requirements and company guidelines
• Assist with accident investigations and environmental investigations as needed
• Assist with regulatory and compliance activities related to site operations
• Monitor production and operational costs and identify opportunities for improved efficiency
• Communicate operational needs, concerns, and performance updates to the Area Manager
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in asphalt, manufacturing, and/or delivery within the building materials industry
• Minimum one (1) year of supervisory or management experience
• Valid driver's license required
• Experience with planning and budgeting
• Knowledge and experience with MSHA and OSHA regulations
• Knowledge of heavy mobile and fixed mining, asphalt production, and related equipment
• Ability to lead employees, contractors, and other personnel in a production environment
• Strong understanding of plant production processes and equipment operations
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to monitor production, costs, staffing, and equipment performance
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Broader industry knowledge preferred
• Understanding of plant and equipment used in ready-mix concrete and asphalt operations preferred
• Ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial production environment
