The Impact of this Role: The Commercial Data Analyst provides analytical and technical expertise to collect, interpret, validate, and analyze claims, utilization, pricing, financial, and operational data in support of OptiMed's commercial activities. The Commercial Data Analyst will work closely with Sales and partner with clinical, pharmacy, operational, and financial subject matter experts to evaluate opportunities and translate business knowledge into accurate, repeatable analysis. The position will utilize available technology and analytical tools to organize, cleanse, transform, reconcile, and analyze data while maintaining a high level of accuracy and integrity. The Commercial Data Analyst will also assist the organization in advancing and improving its analytical capabilities by developing standardized methodologies, documenting business rules, improving the use of existing technology, and identifying opportunities to reduce repetitive manual analysis. Over time, the position will help create a stronger connection between what OptiMed expects when an opportunity is evaluated, what is ultimately implemented and delivered, and the financial and operational results achieved. The Commercial Data Analyst currently reports to the Technology Account Manager and works closely with Sales, Finance, Pharmacy, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Technology stakeholders. What You’ll be Doing: Commercial Opportunity and Quoting Analysis Collect, review, interpret, and analyze claims, utilization, pricing, and other datasets associated with prospective client opportunities. Analyze patient populations, medications, utilization patterns, treatment activity, and other relevant information to help identify potential OptiMed service opportunities. Partner with clinical, pharmacy, and other subject matter experts to apply appropriate clinical, utilization, pricing, and service assumptions to commercial analyses. Support external client and partner communications with a customer-focused, sales-oriented approach, responding to reporting inquiries and deliver analytical insights in a clear and actionable manner that supports strong client relationships. Quantify potential opportunity size, utilization, savings, revenue, and other commercial measures using established methodologies and assumptions. Develop analytical scenarios that allow Sales and leadership to evaluate alternative service, pricing, or utilization assumptions. Prepare accurate, organized, and understandable analytical outputs supporting opportunity evaluation, quoting, proposals, and commercial discussions. Clearly identify assumptions, data limitations, exceptions, and areas requiring additional subject matter review. Data Analysis and Quality Review and validate data used in claims analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify discrepancies, missing information, or unusual results requiring additional review. Maintain clear documentation of key assumptions and calculations used in the analysis. Utilize Excel and available reporting tools to analyze data and prepare consistent outputs. Appropriately apply established business rules. Partner with Reporting Analysts, Technology, and other internal resources when additional data, reporting, or technical support is needed. Maintain and improve existing analytical templates and tools to support efficient and consistent analysis. Follow applicable HIPAA, privacy, information security, and data handling requirements. Who You’ll be Working With: The Infusion Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists and collaborates closely with fellow pharmacy technicians and other specialty pharmacy team members. This role regularly communicates with patients, caregivers, prescriber offices, insurance providers, financial-assistance programs, and internal operational teams to coordinate prescription processing and resolve barriers to medication access. Through timely communication and careful follow-through, the Specialty Pharmacy Technician helps create a smooth and supportive experience throughout the patient’s specialty pharmacy journey. Skills and Experience You’ll Bring to the Table: Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience Two to five years of related analytical, business, financial, or healthcare experience preferred. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze and organize data. Experience working with healthcare and pharmacy claims, pricing, or financial data is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new systems, analytical tools, and business processes. Clinical awareness on services rendered and how medication regimen variability impacts analysis work. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work effectively with large and complex datasets. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and unusual results. Ability to understand and consistently apply established business rules, assumptions, and methodologies. Technical aptitude with the ability to learn and effectively use healthcare, reporting, and analytical applications. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, and deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain analytical findings clearly. Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Operations, Finance, Pharmacy, Reporting, Technology, and other subject matter experts. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient, client, and financial information. Work Environment: This is a hybrid position with flexible hours working remotely and onsite in our Kalamazoo, Michigan office. Minimal travel; as required for conferences, training and other business purposes.
