Position Overview:

The role involves assessing and treating patients who may have physical, emotional, cognitive, or psychosocial challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients' capabilities to perform daily living skills safely and effectively. Develop a tailored care plan that specifies treatment types and frequencies.
• Execute the treatment plan utilizing appropriate methods. Record patient progress and adjust the care plan as necessary, seeking consultation when required.
• Inform patients and their families/caregivers about identified deficits. Assist with the discharge process from therapy services and provide guidance on selecting and using adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervise care provided by designated personnel in accordance with established regulations and standards of practice.
• Maintain a state of alertness and ensure safety at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field necessary for state licensure.

Experience:

• No prior experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Constantly standing.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Frequent auditory skills to detect body sounds and alarms.
• Regular visual acuity for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Occasional lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling.

Licensure and Certifications Required:

Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Additional certifications may be required based on departmental needs.

State Licensure Requirements:

• Illinois: Occupational Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Missouri: Occupational Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Oklahoma: Occupational Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
• Wisconsin: Occupational Therapist - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
