Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Unit

Location: Syracuse, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurses (RN) for night shift travel assignments in a high-acuity acute care hospital. The ideal candidate will have recent Med/Surg experience in a facility of comparable size and complexity and be comfortable managing a diverse adult patient population with minimal orientation.

Schedule

• Night Shift
• 12-hour shifts
• Every Other Weekend Required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Excessive time-off requests and fixed scheduling requests will not be approved

Requirements

• Active New York State RN License/Registration
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience (within the last 2 years)
• Acute care hospital experience in a facility of similar size and acuity
• Travelers must have experience in hospitals of equal or greater size or trauma centers

Preferred Qualifications

• Level I Trauma Center experience
• Level II Trauma Center experience
• EPIC EMR experience

• Peripheral IV insertion
• Laboratory specimen collection (phlebotomy)
• Telemetry monitoring
• Comprehensive nursing assessments
• Medication administration
• Patient education

• Acute care patient management

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult Medical/Surgical patients.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring.
• Start and maintain IV access.
• Draw laboratory specimens as ordered.
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Accurately document care in the electronic medical record.
• Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care with minimal supervision.
