The ideal candidate has a strong interest in issue advocacy and a well-rounded background in social media, digital communications, and content strategy.This is a non-supervisory position.The Social Media Associate is expected to work a full-time (37.5 hours/week) schedule and may work hybrid from the following locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, or Washington, DC.What You'll DoAudience Engagement & Social Listening (35%)Monitor Earthjustice social platforms daily and engage with audiences through comments and conversationsConduct social listening to track sentiment and emerging narratives in the news cycle, identifying rapid response opportunities for engagement and thought leadershipShare insights from social listening to inform content, campaigns, and engagement strategiesContent & Copywriting (35%)Draft social media copy in collaboration with social team for use across platformsCollaborate with internal stakeholders and social media team to conceptualize and plan content for Earthjustice campaignsEnsure all content is accurate, on-brand, and tailored to target audiencesPlanning & Reporting (20%)Support reporting & analytics by pulling regular reports on social media metrics and campaign performanceShare ongoing insights and recommendations to improve KPIs and content performanceMaintain social content calendars; Coordinate content reviews and publishing workflowsOther (10%)Stay informed on platform updates and evolving social media best practicesSupport special projects and cross-functional initiatives as neededActively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of learning by building skills and sharing knowledge.Please note that the percentage breakdowns provided above serve as a guideline and that other duties may be assigned as part of the job's requirements.What You'll Bring2-3 years of experience in social media, digital communications, or a related fieldExceptional written communication and copywriting skillsExperience in nonprofit, legal, or issue advocacyOrganizational skills with the ability to manage multiple project timelinesStrong understanding of social platforms and community management best practicesProficiency with social media management, listening, and reporting platforms such as Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and/or HootsuiteBasic design or video editing experience using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative SuiteDemonstrated commitment to Earthjustice's values of Justice, Excellence, Inclusion, and Partnership.Salary & BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary and excellent, comprehensive benefits.
