AI/ML Systems Engineer

OverviewVTG is seeking an AI/ML Systems Engineer, located in Chantilly, Va.What will you do?The engineer sought here serves a USG Program Office leading Research & Development (R&D) of evolutionary, revolutionary, and transformational artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. This position provides Systems Engineering & Technical Advisory (SETA) support services. Your responsibilities include some or all of the following:Evaluation of advanced AI/ML concepts, systems, technologies, designs, architectures, interfaces into space and ground systems.Support Agile SAFe program development processes and activitiesAssist USG Program Office with analysis of alternatives to optimize technical, cost, and schedule performance considerations and improve knowledge and understanding of system, technology, and architecture tradeoffsTechnical and programmatic support through the entire project life cycle including concept development, system definition, acquisition planning, source selection, system design, development, integration and test, system delivery, and deploymentWork with government technical and contracts staff developing program acquisition packagesBriefings and reports including technical and programmatic assessments presenting analysis, results, conclusions, and recommendationsProvide acquisition advisory services during technical and cost evaluations of proposalsDo you have what it takes?Required Education:Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experienceDesired Education:Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math discipline with minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience or seven (7) years with master’s degreeRequired Qualifications:AI/ML experienceAcquisition support experienceProficient skills using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint)Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skillsInterpersonal and communication skills for written reports, group discussion, and oral presentationsDesired Qualifications:Knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience in one of more of the following:Systems engineering and integration applied to spacecraft, ground, and launch systemsR&D of artificial intelligence/machine learning agentsSystem acquisition, design, development, integration, test, and/or flight operationsSmall Satellite (SmallSat) systems (single vehicles, clusters, and/or constellations)Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning technologies applied to space systemsSystem modeling & simulation and/or system performance analysisIC mission, organizations, disciplines, systems, and/or processesClearance:Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with PolyPay Range: VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $100,000 - $195,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
