THPG - Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant

Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant Work location: Texas Health Kaufman – 874 Ed Hall Drive, Kaufman, TX and Premier Physical Therapy – 19030 3136 Horizon Road, Rockwall, TX 75032. Work hours: Full-time; 40 hours weekly; Monday – Friday. Education & Licenses Associate's Degree and completion of a Physical Therapist Assistant program. Texas Physical Therapy Assistant License (PTA) – required upon hire. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – required before independent patient care; must be maintained quarterly. Experience No prior experience required. Responsibilities Patient Assessment / Plan of Care: Obtain and verify physician orders; review medical records; obtain medical history; ensure informed consent; identify assessment problems; update goals; follow plan of care; participate in discharge planning. Patient Treatment: Use appropriate therapeutic techniques; perform procedures within scope of license; delegate technical procedures safely; evaluate patient response and progress; educate patients and families; maintain patient safety; communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel; achieve patient goals within established time frames; ensure infection control; use two patient identifiers; consider cultural/religious beliefs. Accountability: Utilize resources to maximize efficiency; participate in orientation and training for staff, students, volunteers; meet productivity targets; represent department positively; complete work within scheduled hours; seek supervision as needed; cross‑train to treat any diagnosis; participate in continuous improvement; maintain clean and safe work environment; collaborate with peers and other disciplines; participate in safety drills; maintain customer satisfaction. Documentation: Document assessment, plan, and treatment sessions per regulatory guidelines; submit patient charges; record education provided; complete discharge summaries; submit required documentation tools for outpatients and specialty units; report unusual occurrences. Additional Activities: Participate in strategies to meet business initiatives and unit/team, program, and department goals. Qualifications Associate's Degree from an approved Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current Texas PTA license; BCLS certification. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with patients of all ages; competence in age‑specific care (adult, adolescent, elderly, pediatric). Strong written and verbal communication; ability to teach and document accurately.
