Trane in Plainview, NY is hiring for a Service Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be working with Trane Account Managers to coordinate estimates and quotes for HVAC service projects. What you will do: Responsible for job bookings and creating quotes for quoted work in support of our Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers. Responsible for the cost estimates consisting of materials, sub‑contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start‑up, service work, etc.), and other construction‑related activities created by personnel to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project. Responsible for the take‑off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects. Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards. Develops the scope of work for sub‑contractors. Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub‑contractors through quotations for materials and services. Responsible for holding job pre‑bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc. What you will bring: Bachelor's or Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology or related study preferred; or minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' related estimating experience; or minimum five (5) years HVAC Technician experience. Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred. Preferred experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget. Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high paced environment with attention to detail. Experience working directly with building owners is a plus. Flexibility to work overtime as required. Compensation: Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $61,300.00 - $86,520.00. Compensation Type: Exception.
