We empower them to succeed.We operate year-round with generous holiday, vacation and seasonal breaks.How You Will Make an ImpactThe Intervention Specialist instructs and assesses assigned students with disabilities in a personalized instructional environment, working with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate the students academic plan. This position will collaborate with school administration and faculty to support student retention and academic success.Responsibilities/DutiesThis list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Assign a course of study individualized to the needs of the studentProvide instruction to students using approved curriculumCollaborate with general education teachers and refer students to a core subject teacher when necessaryConstruct, review, revise and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) following state and federal timelinesBe responsible for managing the students behavior; exercise corrective action when necessaryParticipate in the identification of students with possible disabilities post intervention phaseMay perform work for special day class settingsSchedule and chair IEP meetings including 30 day review IEP meetingsMeet special education program timeline requirementsParticipate in, proctor, and supervise state and school-mandated testing following school policies and procedures for test security. Assign test scores as appropriate on formative assessments, projects, or local testsAccept, carefully review, and evaluate homework and online work, providing timely feedback to studentsMonitor students course credit completionMonitor and document student notes in the student information system (SIS)Meet all Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession and Ohio Standards of Professional PracticeBe available to student and/or parent during the student's appointmentCollaborate with the Principal to develop an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP)Contribute to teacher-based teams, professional learning communities and/or committees as assignedReport necessary absences as soon as the need is known, and prepare documentation for a substitute or other teacher as neededCall students when they miss their appointmentsAssist the student in finding additional resources when necessaryRefer students to labs, tutoring, student study team, and counseling when appropriateComplete yearly academic plans that correspond to upcoming State Education standardsComplete report cards and progress reports as required or requestedSubmit student attendance and reporting in the SIS databaseConduct close-out procedures of student folders at the end of the learning period and when a student drops, withdraws, or graduatesWork with the Student Services staff on student folder changes and correctionsAccurate recordkeeping as defined by the Ohio Department of Education, Sponsor, and AuditorsKeep all student work neat and organizedAttend staff meetings and assigned professional development activitiesAttend graduation ceremonies and participate in other school eventsAdministrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to timeQualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, ETC .Knowledge in a variety of educational programsAbility to work with a diverse student populationAbility to learn new educational technologiesVerbal and written communication skillsPlanning and organizational skillsRecord-keeping skills MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Ohio Educator License Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate K-12th grade requiredPrior Experience working with children (with SLD, ED, MR, Autism, & other special needs) strongly recommendedTeaching experience preferred; experience in a diverse setting preferredProficient in student information systemsIntermediate or Advanced, or Expert skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) TRAVEL : Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, high people engagementFinger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers togetherTalking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quicklyAverage Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary informationAverage Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machineryPhysical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs)Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work requiredWorking in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures
