Lab Technician I

Location: Houston, TX 77072 Job Description Results Statement: The mission of a Geotechnical Lab and field Technician I for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support the project manager, Laboratory Manager, or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines. This includes responsibility for: geotechnical soils testing, soil sample management, maintain quality management systems for geotechnical projects. Responsibilities Perform basic laboratory testing Assist in inventory management of soil sample storage in warehouse Perform advanced testing under the supervision of senior staff Document work performed by number of tests or time spent, as appropriate Communicate test results to client when required Provide support on engineering projects as directed Assist other personnel at the direction of manager Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner Qualifications Possess High School Diploma A.S. or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred Experience in laboratory testing of soil samples preferred Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job Ability and willingness to perform year-round outdoor work when requested preferred Valid Texas Driver's License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses Mutual Respect/Likeability Integrity Resourceful/Initiative Organized / Planner Team Player / Team Builder Judgment/Decisive Customer Focused Communicative Benefits 401(k) 401(k) matching Employer Paid Life, AD&D, & Disability insurance Paid Time Off 8 Paid Holidays Employee Assistance Program Referral Program Professional development & growth opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr HVJ Associates, Inc.
