Job Title: Registered Nurse - Client Child Health Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 PM - 07:15 AM Hours per Shift: 13 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: AWHONN, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Post Partum experience required. Ability to independently care for mother/baby couplets. Description: The Registered Nurse on Client Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients. This position works collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Client Child Health. Responsibilities include the observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. The nurse assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex, and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities. A person-centered care approach is utilized in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. The nurse plans for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Patient and family involvement in establishing care goals is encouraged. Critical thinking skills are demonstrated by making appropriate clinical decisions and prioritizing both planned and unplanned events. The nurse proactively addresses potential and actual problems. Competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families is essential. Initiative is taken in remaining current on policies, procedures, and standards. The nurse acts as a resource to peers. Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect the resourceful involvement of health team members. Facilitation of the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed is part of the role.
