Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4 Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI required Must-Have: Strong written and verbal communication skills, basic computer knowledge Description: Demonstrates proficiency and independence in the care of patients and their families/significant others by applying and documenting the nursing process, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Consults with staff, physicians, and management on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Continues to learn new skills and maintains clinical competency within the department to provide direct and safe patient care. Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Promotes positive public relations for the department and the organization by presenting self in a professional manner. Assists in community service programs as requested. Demonstrates problem-solving skills to bring patient/family issues to a positive conclusion for all involved. Displays communication skills necessary to interact with persons of varying ages and/or cultures. Always demonstrates a positive attitude. Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers, other department staff, and physicians. Practices the five rights of medication administration. Demonstrates efficient time management skills to maximize productivity. Encourages teamwork and asks for assistance and information from others when necessary. Supports the mission and philosophy of the organization and department. Demonstrates an understanding of and complies with policies and procedures. Acts as a patient advocate, including family in patient care and respecting confidentiality. Respects patients’ cultural and religious beliefs. Effectively deals with end-of-life decisions. Is accountable for actions, behaviors, and decisions. Utilizes the chain of command appropriately to resolve issues. Participates in quality activities as required. Adheres to organizational and departmental customer service standards. Demonstrates an understanding and application of policies. Respects confidentiality.
