Industrial Electrician

Industrial Electrician (26000106) This role is for a qualified electrical journeyman responsible for maintaining and operating heavy equipment and supervising apprentices within a large aggregate production facility. Job Description Complete all assigned jobs safely and efficiently, using experience and training to recommend cost‑saving measures. Identify and pursue additional training opportunities in developmental areas. Directly supervise assigned apprentices, ensuring compliance with VMC policies and safety procedures. Assist the electrical foreman with department cost control and with scheduling and material ordering. Organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time whenever possible. Inform the electrical foreman of progress and any variables that may change the scope of assignments. Identify skills gaps among apprentices and assist in creating targeted training programs. Ensure all electrical work complies with the NEC, MSHA, and OSHA requirements. Collaborate with department leadership to implement necessary changes in a sustainable manner. Other Requirements Ability to lift 40 pounds and occasionally heavier items; able to stand, sit and walk for long periods. Skill in driving a repair truck or forklift on a daily basis. Proficiency in using phone systems, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Experience with computerized equipment and technology. Local travel and occasional airline travel required. Capacity to work in a high‑stress, deadline‑oriented environment requiring complex decision making. Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Skill in testing electrical equipment, PPE, hand tools, and motorized vehicles. Skills You’ll Need Education High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or 5+ years of electrical trade training. Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical trade, including job organization and layout. Demonstrable experience interpreting NEC, NESC, and MSHA codes. Experience in the mining industry preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Interaction with plant personnel for service requests. Ability to lay out tasks, determine manpower and supplies, and forward information to the foreman. Knowledge and experience with NEC, NESC, MSHA, and OSHA. Understanding of VMC’s electrical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ongoing improvement of electrical safety through apprenticeship coaching. Valid driver’s license for the state of assignment. Benefits & Compensation Base hourly range: $37.00 – $45.00 per hour (excluding discretionary bonuses).
