Assistant, General Manager

In this role you will support the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Distribution Center and the supervision of Distribution Center employees. This role helps ensure operational efficiency, strong customer service, effective coordination across warehouse, customer care, and administrative functions while escalating broader issues and decisions to the General Manager as appropriate. The Assistant General Manager plays a hands-on leadership role, assisting with execution, team oversight, and operational follow-through across key areas of the business. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervise and lead the Customer Care and Order Entry teams, providing coaching, training, performance management and day-to-day guidance to ensure a high-level customer service and operational efficiency. Foster a customer-focused culture by supporting the development and engagement of Customer Care and Order Entry Representatives and ensuring positive customer experience. Partner with customers, sales teams, and logistics vendors to maintain strong working relationships and support service excellence. Support overall client satisfaction and operational performance of the Distribution Center. Assist the General Manager with financial and operational oversight. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Monitor inventory levels in alignment with sales demand and operational needs. Ensure completion and accuracy of weekly product cycle counts and support inventory accuracy initiatives. Coordinate activities across Customer Care, Order Entry, and Warehouse teams to support business objectives and customer expectations.Provide oversight of warehouse operations to ensure accurate inventory movement, inventory control, and efficient daily workflow.Delegate responsibilities appropriately to balance workloads and maximize team effectiveness.Support evaluation and coordination of local vendor relationships to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness.Assist with select HR responsibilities, including onboarding support, scheduling and employee relation matters and issue escalation. Assist General Manager to oversee policy implementation, process improvement initiatives, and operational best practices. Act as a point of leadership coverage in the absence of the General Manager. Bachelor's degree preferred from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or military experience. Minimum of 3-6 years of related experience.Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of sales and service operations.Self-motivated and goal oriented, with the ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to support financial and operational aspects of a distribution or warehouse operation. Strong computer skills.Ability to inspire and motivate others.Ability to analyze issues and problem solve. Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication and presentation skills.A track record of driving team and process accomplishments or solving problems for organizations.
