The School of Education at North Dakota State University is seeking inquiries, nominations, and applications for a visiting lecturer of Educational Leadership to join the School of Education faculty, beginning August 16, 2026, or as otherwise negotiated. The position includes a possible renewable contract. This colleague will contribute to one or more of the following graduate-level program areas:
- Community education
- Adult learning
- K-12 educational leadership
- Higher education
- Institutional effectiveness
- Organizational learning
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach four (4) graduate-level courses per semester in one of more of the six program areas listed above.
- Participate in professional service activities.
- Work effectively with colleagues across disciplines and/or community organizations.
- Contribute to fostering a collaborative community across the School of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An earned doctorate in education or a field closely related to one or more of the six program areas listed above, from a regionally accredited institution, by the time of initial appointment.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusiveness.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional experience relevant to one or more of the six program areas listed above.
- Experience with research and evaluation design, methods, and analytical procedures applied to educational and social research (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, action/participatory methods).
- An active program of scholarly inquiry (evidence might include publications, engagement in professional and scholarly organizations, community-based participatory programs, a record of obtaining funding through contracts or competitive grants, or other modes of scholarship).
- Evidence of providing high-quality instruction and mentoring at the graduate level.
- Commitment to cultivating relationships with colleagues on campus, within the local community, and across the state/region.
- Ability to diversity program area faculty in a way that prioritizes, values, and celebrates diversity in all forms and ensures a sense of belonging, respect, and inclusion that supports the success of each member of the community.

The School of Education at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for a 1-year non-tenure-track, nine (9) month Lecturer position with a primary focus on Physical Education and/or Health Education (PE/HE) to begin August 16, 2026. This position will consist of 80% teacher (4 courses per semester), 10% supervision of student teachers (5 student teachers/year), and 10% service with the opportunity to teach in the summer. The position includes a possible renewable contract.
NDSU’s PE/HE programs include a stand-alone undergraduate physical education program (with both a K-12 licensing option and a coaching and physical activity leadership option), stand-alone health education major (5th-12th licensing), undergraduate Sport Coaching Certificate, as well as an online master’s program (Leadership in Physical Education and Sport Coaching [LPESC]). Both teacher preparation programs are accredited by CAEP and approximately 95% of teacher candidates double major in both content areas. The undergraduate programs emphasize experiential learning and best practices, incorporate a variety of technology tools and applications, and provide diverse and unique field experiences. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in at least one or more of the undergraduate programs; supervise student teachers; provide service to the department, college, university, and community; work effectively with colleagues across disciplines and/or community organizations; and contribute to department governance while fostering a collaborative community across the School of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or closely related field from an accredited institution
- PK-12 teaching experience in one of the program areas
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, access, and inclusion
- Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students
- Effective oral and written communications skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD or EdD in Physical Education, Health Education or closely related field from an accredited institution
- Experience teaching PETE/HETE courses
- Online teaching experience or online learning experiences as a student
- Active participation in school-university collaborations (e.g., supervision of student teachers)
- Membership and involvement in professional organizations
