Account Officer I Overview

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This person is responsible for the day-to-day interaction with clients of the Commercial, Specialty or Corporate Banking Divisions. They are the primary contact person providing proactive and consultative support to resolve operations issues that may arise. Advises clients of the most effective combinations of products and services for their individual situation. Acts as the operational expert for the client and proactively executes on concepts developed by the Relationship Manager with minimal supervision. Serves as a liaison with other internal departments to provide operational excellence to clients. What Will You Do? Primary contact with clients/prospects for day-to-day operational needs, providing proactive, collaborative and consultative support. Responsible for the operational integrity of the assigned area of responsibility. Use knowledge of bank products and services to evaluate opportunities for growth in relationships and recommend solutions to clients/prospects. Execute on relationship plans designed by the Relationship Manager strategies for those clients they manage. Resolve problems, answer questions related to client accounts and utilization of bank products and services. Work with clients to assist in operations areas and handle all areas of operations (e.g., loan payments, wires, new accounts, checking and savings activity, CDs, investments) to free Relationship Managers from performing these duties. Provide accurate, timely information to all client inquiries to ensure retention of profitable clients. Resolve client complaints and take action to prevent future problems. Contact clients regarding overdrafts and perform follow-up to resolve the situation. Determine appropriate method of approach. Analyze client needs to cross-sell a wide variety of bank services. Direct clients to the appropriate area within the bank or to a Relationship Manager. Maintain complete knowledge of banking products and services with emphasis on Treasury and Deposit products. Develop new business through referrals and existing clients. Participate in client call program independently or with Relationship Manager. Prepare call reports for management. Provide assistance and coverage for all operations-related activity within the department. Review and process deposits. Approve checks for cashing. Prepare outgoing wire transfers. Prepare debit and credit entries to checking/saving accounts for transfers, loan payments, etc. Review large deposits and approve or decline immediate credit based on knowledge of clientele, account balance, history and related factors within delegated authority. Approve deposits, transfers, overdrafts, and waivers of fees within specified authority limit. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of account activity by reviewing reports (e.g., rejects, overdraft, large item, float reports). Identify potential problems and take action to avoid financial loss to the Bank. May perform business site inspections for verification purposes. What Do You Need to Succeed? Required Qualifications* Minimum 2 years experience in client service, banking operations or relationship management support. Minimum 2 years experience in a banking or financial services environment. Minimum 2 years of experience with bank products and services (e.g., deposits, Treasury Services, international, etc.). Whats In It For You? Compensation Starting base salary: $53,955 - $86,177 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
