Financial Counselor

1. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Training and Experience : Must have good public relation skills and interact with people well.Basic typing and computer skills are necessary.Previous Medical office experience preferred.Must be able to handle multitasking.Must maintain patient confidentiality and information per policy and procedures.Must be dependable, trustworthy and flexible.
3. Job Knowledge: Basic typing & computer skills are necessary.Knowledge of Health Insurance claims and EOBs.

Description: Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has an immediate opening for a full-time Financial Counselor.At HMHD our mission is to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services.HMHD utilizes the premier electronic medical record system EPIC with My Chart as an amenity for patients and staff. The Financial Counselor is responsible for navigating patients through financial assistance, payment options, and understanding current and available insurance coverages. In addition, the Financial Counselor will facilitate access and coordination of a variety of health services and community-based services to ensure a person-centered approach to care. Will perform insurance and reimbursement follow up duties as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor. Inputs necessary adjustments and follow up on accounts as approved by policy guidelines. Assists Billers with follow-up on claims.
